John Miller is a much celebrated resident of the Hawkesbury Valley, who came to the district over 60 years ago as a vegetable and mushroom farmer. Soon after his farm was ruined by severe flooding. John remained in the district and has spent much of his life studying the local history, places of historical interest and local folklore, and has been instrumental in preserving the relics of early settlement in the diustrict.
The video begins with an introduction by Rev. Canon John Butler, and is followed by John's address, which is full of anecdotes and fascinating stories about early life in the Hawkesbury. John has a great affection for Aboriginal people, which becomes obvious when one hears him speak.
